THE ONLY FOUR-TIME NATIONAL BANJO CHAMPION

Gary “Biscuit” Davis began playing banjo at age 10.  Was Tennessee State Champion by the age of twelve.  Since then he has been 2 Time KY State Champion, 4 time AL State Champion and National Banjo Champion 4 Times.  He won his first National Championship at the age of 16 in 1979.  Then again in 1988, 1996 and 2012. 

He began playing professionally at age 13 in Chattanooga where he is from.  In 1988, he moved to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to play.  He played for Jim and Charlie Smith‘s Southstar Band and Dollywood as a lead guitarist and utility musician and singer.  He also played the Smoky Mountian Jubilee, Hee Haw Show, Bonnie Lou and Buster Show, as for many others.

Gary has been a band leader and producer for Dolly Parton.  During the time he worked with Dolly, he played banjo, acoustic guitar, and lead guitar for her.  He has played on and/or produced 7 of her albums!

Gary currently performs daily at Dolly’s  Dixie Stampede Dinner Theater.  He also teaches private banjo and guitar lessons and travels doing several banjo instruction clinics and concerts throughout the year.
